3 large ICT events in 2010

Attending to the Opening Ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, Prime Minister’s envoy on IT, Vice Head of National IT Steering Committee Do Trung Ta, Permannet Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Le Nam Thang, Founder cum President of IDG – Patrick McGovern and various representatives, delegates in the industry as well as thousands of people interested in this field.

Conference on E-Governent was opened first with the subject “Effective E-Government for the period 2011-2015”. The year 2010 is considered as an important landmark in deploying e-government, of which the evaluation of implementation of Decision 43/2008/QD-TTg and Decision 48/2009/QD-TTg on applying ICT in State organizations from 2008-2010 and plan for the period 2011-2015  with total investment up to 1.700 bil VND and have been ratified by Prime Minister. This is also a part of the Government’s commitment endeavouring to make Vietnam become a power on IT. According to E-Government Report of the United Nations, Vietnam was ranked 90 out of 192 countries around the world, and standing at the 6th position out of 10 Southeast Asia nations.

Panorama Workshop on ICT took place during the afternoon 15, july 2010. Speakers : Chu Tien Dung, Ha Than drew the “Picture of software enterprises, products and services in Ho Chi Minh City”, Editor in Chief of PC World Vietnam Magazin Le Trung Viet represented “ICT Ranking 2010”, while President of Vietnam Electronics Industries Association (VEIA) - Le Ngoc Son and General Secretary of HCA – Pham Thien Nghe spoke on “Manufacturing and distributing hardware in Ho Chi Minh City”.

Also in the morning 15 July, 2010, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, Permannet Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Le Nam Thang, Vice Head of National IT Steering Committee Do Trung Ta, President of IDG Patrick McGovern and many others top officials cut the ribbon to open the “Vietnam Electronics World Expo”- VCW 15). The Expo attracts more 500 pavilions from over 400 groups, companies in the ICT-electronics fields. Large domestic and foreign enterprises such as : Sony, Canon, Panasonic, Microsoft, Samsung, HP, MSI< D-link, Kington, VTC, FPT, Khai Tri, CMS, CMC, Cuu Long…also participated in the event and promised to show current advanced-technology products and services in the country and international market as well as in the time ahead.

In order to attract customers, VCW 15 will organize discount programs, game shows sponsored by the companies attending the exhibition. Moreover, there are 24 bus journeys transporting customers from 3 different places to here. Especially, this is the first time the exhibition has iEntertainment-Complex, including Internet access, drinks service and…free foot-massage. VCW 15 opens from 15-18/7/2010 at SECC.

In the framework of VCW 15, on the afternoon 14, July 2010, HCA granted Gold Medal and Top 5 ICT Vietnam for the enterprises that have good performance, reached high revenue, served society and customers efficiently, contributing to the development of the ICT-electronics field in Vietnam.
